Beckham in Korea

Soccer superstar David Beckham has come to Korea, offering a prize opportunity for companies that employ him to promote their products. But the main reason is that his team, Los Angeles Galaxy, will have a friendship match with FC Seoul. Adidas is the most aggressive in using Beckham for marketing, having signed a lifetime sponsorship contract with him for a reported 100 million pounds. Adidas will host an event where Beckham meets Korean fans and is setting up a photo wall with 2,008 pictures in Cheonggye Square in central Seoul.

Motorola will unveil its global model RAZR Squared to coincide with Beckham's stay in Korea. The player, who recently became a brand ambassador for the company, will introduce the new product himself and have his photos taken with Korean fans at the event.

Direct-sale company Herbal Life, an official sponsor of LA Galaxy, is giving away tickets to the friendship game and practice sessions to members in cooperation with online community "I Love Soccer."

Beckham is as popular as ever, even though LA Galaxy is hardly in the same league as Real Madrid.

Becks out of shape

The LA Galaxy star admits that this is a long way off competitive action.

The former Real Madrid middfielder told Setanta Sports, "I would love
to reach 100 caps, but I have to be physically ready to be part of the
team.

"All I've done is training, I have no match fitness."

"I played under Fabio Capello before," he said, referring to being
left out by the coach who bossed him at Real Madrid.

"He is a great manager and a good person.

"He will pick players if he believes they are fit enough, and with me
playing no games it was only right because there are other players
that played many games."

A Kiss from David Beckham Makes Fan Faint

While Victoria was checking out all the latest in fashion at New York Fashion Week, other women were checking out her husband during Jermaine Dupri's pre-Grammy party at Hollywood's Club Central.

"Beckham rolled in at about 1 a.m.," a fellow party-goer told PEOPLE. "He looked like he was having a great time hanging with Jermaine and talking to Janet [Jackson]."

While Beckham played it cool with the party's hosts, it's safe to say he was heating things up among the women at the party. In fact, when one young female fan approached the soccer star and got a quick kiss on the cheek, she literally went weak in the knees – and fainted!

Beckham backs Capello

David Beckham says it would have been unfair for him to be called up for England's friendly against Switzerland this week.

The midfielder agreed with England coach Italian born Fabio Capello, who said last week that he did not include the former captain in his first squad because he had not played a competitive match since November.

"I half expected it because I know what Fabio Capello is like as a manager," Beckham told Sky Sports TV. "If he thinks you're not fit and ready to play, then you won't be in the team. I totally respect that and totally understand that.

"There are a lot of Premiership players who have played 15 games in the last two months and I haven't played a game since December."

The 32-year-old Beckham had been training with Arsenal in the hope of being called up for his 100th international appearance, but has instead returned to the United States for Major League Soccer's pre-season.

"I'd done everything I could to make myself available," Beckham said. "I worked hard for a month with Arsenal. I did go to Sierra Leone and Brazil, but those trips were only four days long and for the rest of the month I was training very hard.

"It's simply down to not playing any games."

Capello also dropped David Beckham last season when the two were at Real Madrid, but ended up recalling the midfielder and the Spanish giants went on to win La Liga.

Back in LA

After an exasperating summer, David Beckham has one expectation for his first full season with the Los Angeles Galaxy. "To win something," he said as the Galaxy opened training for the Major League Soccer season. Los Angeles finished fifth in the six-team Western Conference last season and missed the playoffs.

"We can't afford to be in the position we were in, where we ended up chasing it," David Beckham said. "That's not good for the players or for a team. We've got to get it right from the first game and carry on right through the season."

The British star also experienced personal frustration. He arrived in Los Angeles in July with a sprained left ankle in his last game with Real Madrid, then sprained his right knee about six weeks later.

He played in just eight MLS and tournament games, made four starts and finished with one goal and three assists.
